Cointreau Distillery was created by the pastry brothers Adolphe and Edouard-Jean Cointreau. The distillery was created with the aim of making liqueurs from the fruits that were produced in the region.

In 1875, a preparation of sweet and bitter orange peels was distilled, creating in this way the triple dry, due to its distillation in copper alembics, this recipe is still maintained to this day for the production of this drink.

The brand in the 20th century already sold around 1,000,000 bottles a year, in 1989 the brand merged with the Cognac brand Remy Martin and was renamed Remy Cointreau and began its listing.
