La mancha

The Appellation of Origin La Mancha is the most extensive wine region in the world, and one of the most extensive vineyards in Europe. This area is located in the Central Plateau of the Iberian Peninsula, hosting 182 municipalities in the provinces of Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Albacete and Toledo. Here the cultivation of grapes goes back to the Middle Ages.

The climate is continental with extreme temperatures and large thermal variations. The variable rainfall makes the cultivation of the grape optimal.

White grapes that are grown in the area are: Airén, Macabeo, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdejo, Muscat of small grain, Pedro Ximénez, Parellada, Torrontés, Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Viognier.
