John Walker takes over the family business at age 15, and that's the foundation of the Johnnie Walker Distillery. It was he who got the special mixture of malt and grain that rest for at least 12 months in the barrel.
This distillery has 6 houses distributed throughout the world, 4 of them are outside Scotland: Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Seoul; and two boutiques at Taoyuan International Airport (Taiwan) and Mumbai International Airport (India). Two retail boutiques will open at Changai Airport (Singapore) and Schiphol Amsterdam Airport (Netherlands).
In 1867 Johnnie Walker's first commercial blend was released which was called 'Old Highland Whiskey'.
In 1920 the distillery had grown so much that it was present in 120 countries, one of the largest in the world. On January 1, 1934, John Walker & Sons was granted a Royal Guarantee by King George V to supply the Royal House with whiskey. Title that still belongs to the brand.
