Barceló & Co. was founded in Santo Domingo by the Spanish Julián Barceló in 1929.
The Barceló & Co. distillery started its rum production back in its creation in 1925. In 1950, after years of experimentation, the distillery launched Ron Barceló with its Barceló Blanco and Dorado products. And 20 years later Ron Barceló Añejo is launched on the market.
6 years after the founder's nephew takes over the company, Ron Barceló Imperial is launched on the market, a premium rum being one of the most awarded wines by international organizations.
In the 90s, the brand began to be exported and Ron Barceló SRL was born. In 2006 and being present in 25 international markets, Ron Barceló SRL acquires Ron Barceló completely, and in that same year the bottles of Ron Barceló Imperial, Gran Añejo and Añejo were redesigned.
Currently the company is present in more than 50 countries and is the fourth rum exporting brand in the world.
