Bodegas Covitoro is a winery located in Zamora that was born in 1974 with the desire to improve the winemakers of the area.
Bodegas Covitoro made its first harvest in 1978 and was one of the precursors of the Toro Appellation of Origin established in 1987.
This winery owns some of the oldest vineyards of this D.O and currently has facilities equipped with the most advanced technology.
The winery has more than 900 hectares of vineyards from which the grapes come for the elaboration of their wines where the Tinta de Toro is the star of these vineyards. Distributed in the regions of Toro, Villabuena del Puente, El Pego, Villavendimio, Tagarabuena, San Román, Peleagonzalo and Villafranca.
The production capacity of the winery is around 4.5 million kilos of grapes per year. The winery has the quality certificates IFS (International Food Standard) and BRC (British Retail Consulting), both obtained with the highest rating.
The climate of this zone is continental of arid characteristics. With very high temperature variations reaching from -11ºC to 37ºC. The rainfall of the area is 350-400 mm per year.
The winery has an average annual production of 3.5 million kilograms of grapes.
