Bodegas Trus was born in 1999 in the Ribera del Duero, in the triangle of Pesquera with the ascending valley towards Piñel de Abajo, in the province of Valladolid
Bodegas Trus was born with the idea of making wines that show the quality and personality of Ribera del Duero. With the bases settled on the meaning of its acronym TRUS (Earth-Oak-Grape-Sun).
The winery has 60 hectares of vineyards around the cellar. All the vineyards are of the Tinto Fino variety with 3,300 vines per hectare. Separated in 14 plots, each of them with a soil type (clay, limestone and mixed) which are vinified separately and therefore give rise to different wines.
The climate of the area is extreme both in winter and in summer. The great temperature change between day and night favors the correct maturation of the grape and also gives it a greater number of aromatic components.
The harvest is done manually, and once in the cellar it goes through a second manual selection cluster by cluster. Before reaching the tanks for fermentation, the grapes are destemmed. Once in the tanks, the fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature with continuous and constant overruns, continuously and slowly.
The fermentation takes place in 25,000 liter French oak wood vats. This process lasts around 10-15 days and at a temperature of 25ºC. When the process is concluded they are kept in these tanks for their malolactic fermentation.
The aging takes place in new French oak barrels. Later the wine is bottled without filtering.
