List of products by brand Matsu

Matsu cellar was founded by Raúl Acha in La Rioja and they produce El Pícaro, El Recio and El Viejo wines, with Toro Appellation of Origin.

Matsu cellar is located in La Rioja, is characterized by having vineyards of Tinta de Toro variety with a very low production per vine and with more than 80 years old vines.

Matsu  means "wait" in Japanese, a name with a lot of meaning since the philosophy of this winery is to intervene as little as possible in the processes of vineyard care and winemaking, allowing nature to act on its own, a practice that characterizes the wines of the Toro Appellation of Origin.

The vineyards are located at an altitude between 650 and 735 meters above sea level, on a soil formed by sandstones, clays and limestones. This area is also characterized by a climate with very little humidity.

The harvest is done by hand and at the most optimal moment of ripening of the grapes. After the collection on the journey to the cellar, the grapes begin their fermentation in concrete tanks at a temperature always controlled and that does not exceed 24ºC to preserve the freshness of these wines. The aging process is carried out in French oak barrels.

The wines with Toro Appellation of Origin are characterized by their power and personality, characteristics that this winery has kept adding a touch of elegance and softness to their wines.
