Bodegas y Viñedos San Román arrived to the land of Toro in 1997. It has different plots in the municipalities of Villaester and San Román de Hornija, mostly planted with the Tinta de Toro variety.
Bodegas y Viñedos San Román is located in Valladolid, with vineyards located in San Román de Hornija and Villaester, which produces wines with Toro Appellation of Origin.
The lands where their vineyards are cultivated are characterized from their origins by being of pebbles and sand, in order to extract all the potential that the soil offers them. The subsoils are clayey from where the plant extracts the water in times of drought.
The age of its vineyards is 35 years, with low planting density to regulate the vigor of the plant and generate competition between roots.
The different varieties and plots have a separate vinification in tanks with different capacities and materials to respect the characteristics of the different Pagos and to analyze the evolution of each grape.The aging of this cellar's wines takes place in French and American barrels, which are renewed each year in a 20%.
This cellar produces two different wines, the San Román wine and the Prima wine, both with Toro designation of origin, in the case of San Román made with 100% Tinta de Toro and in the case of Prima with 85% Tinta de Toro and 15% Garnacha.
This cellar produces around 300,000 bottles per year, of which 40% are destined for exportation to countries of the European Union and the United States, among others.
