Jack Daniel's Distillery was founded in 1866 making it the first registered distillery in the USA. Its founder was Jasper Newton Daniel, more commonly known as Jack.

Jack Daniel's Distillery is the oldest registered distillery in the United States, registered in 1866. Jack Daniel's whiskies are differentiated mainly by the distillation process by three meters of maple charcoal, and subsequently, they will mature for at least two years in American oak barrels.

The whiskies at this distillery are classified as "straight bourbon" but the charcoal filtering process that softens it, known as the "Lincoln County process", is considered distinctive enough for the final distillate to be labeled "Tennessee Whiskey" All barrels are manufactured and toasted under the supervision of master coopers.

Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 whiskey was recognized in 1904 as the best whiskey in the world at the World's Fair in Saint Louis, Missouri.
