Chivas Brothers was born in Scotland in the cellar located under the house of James and John Chivas. Their first whiskies followed the tradition of the time but the demand for more whisky grew and that is when they began to mix aged Scottish whiskies.
The Chivas Brothers began to be known internationally and exported their whisky worldwide. In 1843 they made their first delivery to the royal house, serving Queen Victoria.
In 1909 Charles Howard and Alexander Smith created the world's first luxurious whisky using a 25-year blend. After the alcohol ban and the closing of bars in New York, Girls closed, but returned in 1938 with a 12-year-old mix that captivated the public.
Chivas Brothers acquired the Strathisla Distillery, the oldest in the Highlands established in 1786. This distillery has become the basis for Chivas Regal blends.
