Whiskey is an alcoholic beverage made by distilling fermented malt from different cereals such as barley, wheat or rye, which are aged in oak barrels . The production process consists of mixing water with the cereal and then fermenting and aging it. For the highest quality whiskeys, spring water is used, which provides great purity to the drink.

First, the barley is malted and transferred to large-capacity drums where it is allowed to germinate. In this process, the cereal is converted into sugar and the barley is left to dry in ovens using peat smoke. The malt is dried and ground to mix with hot water in a tank, where yeasts are added to make fermentation possible. Next, a double distillation is carried out, in the first one a drink with an alcohol content of 25-30º is obtained, in the second a drink of 60-70º. Finally, the whiskey ages in wooden barrels .

You can differentiate 3 different types of whiskey:

• Malt Whiskey: Made from barley and distilled in copper stills. Within this group, Single Malt Whiskeys are differentiated, which are those made exclusively with malted barley in a single distillery. And the Vatted Malts are a mixture of whiskeys from different distilleries but only malt.
• Grain Whiskey: Made from unmalted barley or corn and its distillation in distillation columns is very common.
• Blended Whiskey: Also called blended whiskeys, they are a mixture of the previous two.
