Vega Sicilia Único Reserva Especial is, as its name reflects, a unique wine that deserves to be enjoyed on very special occasions.
Founded in 1864 by Eloy Lecanda and run today by the Álvarez family, Vega Sicilia is the most emblematic winery in Spain, one of the oldest in the country and, without a doubt, one of the best in the world.
Preparation and aging
Vega Sicilia Único Reserva Especial is a blend of the Tinto Fino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. The grape harvest is carried out after a meticulous grain selection process. Transportation to the winery is carried out using small boxes, so that the grapes do not break and do not lose the freshness that characterizes them. Once in the winery, the grapes are destemmed and then macerated at a controlled temperature. The Vega Sicilia Único Reserva Especial must obtained carries out a first fermentation in various wooden and stainless steel containers. It subsequently ages for two years in large-capacity wooden tanks. Ultimately, before being bottled, it rests for at least 18 months in new barrels and another 30 months in used barrels.
