Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º Año 2018 is the purest expression of fine red wine (tempranillo) in Vega Sicilia. The assembly of varieties that make up this wine has the Tinto Fino as the predominant grape. The other variety used is Merlot.

Preparation and aging

Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º Año 2018 is a blend of Tempranillo and Merlot varieties with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. Valbuena Tempranillo is obtained from plots located on gently sloping concave slopes that come down from the slopes of the moor. These soils come from material that was eroded and accumulated as colluvium on the lower slopes, developing a soil of high expression, with an important evolution materialized with the formation of a calcium horizon in depth. Fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeast. Malolactic is also carried out in stainless steel.

After fermentation, it undergoes aging, between wood and bottle, for 5 years, hence the wine is called Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º Año. French and American wood, new and used 225l barrels, 20,000l vats, a long and complex process that produces a great wine.
