Mortlach Whiskey 21 Years

Mortlach 21 Years is a powerful and impotent malt. It comes from small vintages aged in barrels from Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso, also known as "The Beast of Dufftown".

It is fine, soft and very tasty, perfect to accompany alone or dilute it with a little water.

Elaboration

Mortlach 21 Years acquired its marked distiller character in small vintages aged in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso barrels, with the aim of increasing its aroma and flavor levels. The complexity of the Mortlach distilling process makes it a fine, smooth and tasty drink.

Its preparation is one of the best kept secrets in all of Scotland. Its aromas are deep, with vibrant notes of nuts and tasty meats. Its texture is delicate, the intensity of the taste is sweet, with fruit nuances that allow a glimpse of a spicy flavor.

The vintage is considered special, with a very limited availability of 7,692 bottles worldwide.

Tasting Note

• View : Deep golden color with amber highlights.
• Nose : Aromatically it is round and delicate. The first smells are reminiscent of nuts, butter and lime jam. Subsequently, the slightly fleshy tones appear, which makes the citrus notes last. On the other hand, water modifies the latter and reduces its aroma.
• Mouth : On the palate you can see its naturalness, it is very fine in texture, with flavors of dried fruits and, later, it surprises as it passes through the throat with a spicy chili flavor. With the presence of a little water it remains similar, although it elevates the fruity, sweet and spicy nuances. The finish leaves a very good impression, especially because of the sweet flavor that brings warmth to the palate.

Diageo has launched the 2020 Single Malt Scotch Whiskey collection, inspired by the theme “Rare by Nature”. The collection, curated by Master Blender Dr. Craig Wilson, is made up of eight cask single malt Scotch whiskeys, sourced from Scotland's most successful distilleries.

The result of the distillates shows very well the entire work process that has been followed to expose the age points and the experimental maturation techniques.
